Because the medium is moved in sealed pockets between rotor and stator, shear is low and the pump handles air pockets, gas and swelling media without losing suction. Wear is concentrated in replaceable stator parts, which keeps servicing short. KTSV units run dry for limited periods and can be mounted in any position, so they fit into tight coolant carriageways and tank cutouts.
